Opis stanowiska

The applicant will identify genes and possibly mechanisms responsible for cell differentiation to quiescent state in Saccharomyces cereviasie. This will include testing the role of mutations in genes obtained from previous experiments. Specifically all genes in the SPS pathway (SSY1, PTR3 and SSY5), responsible for signaling the presence of amino acids in the environment yet not considered as important in quiescence; as well as SIR3, which has a regulatory role during transcription, and only recently identified as involved in spatial reorganization of telomeres in quiescent cells. Use of the modern molecular (ATAC seq, CRISPER-Cas9) and genomics techniques (transcriptome analysis) is planned for this position. This work is an essential part of a larger project, which is a continuation of the research questions explored by our group.
Experience of work in a molecular laboratory. Interest in bioinformatics tools for sequence analysis and programming skills will be an additional advantage. Show good level of independence, self-motivation and reliability
Knowledge of Saccharomyces cerevisiae classic and molecular genetics
